Formerly known as the Canal Zone
territory and controlled by the United States Government, Clayton has reverted
back to Panama and is considered one of the up and coming areas for upscale
residential and commercial development. The families of the North
Americans who lived in the Canal Zone during the 90 years of North American
presence look back at their "Paradise Lost" and very often return. Centrally
located about 15 minutes from downtown Panama and various shopping malls,
hospitals and the airport; Clayton is also home to a large National Park, an
Equestrian Center, Summit Golf Course, The City of Knowledge, UN offices,
Gamboa Rainforest, the Causeway, Bridge of the Americas and the domestic
airport which facilitates transportation to the beaches and highlands.
